Installation of improved ADF-GUI modules

Downloading

To install:

• Download the proper file:
  Pentium Linux with RedHat 9 or later
  64-bit Pentium and Opteron with RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 or later
  Windows
  Macintosh OS X 10.3 (Panther)
  SGI Altix with Linux
  IBM with AIX5
• Make a backup of your $ADFBIN directory, the beta version of the ADF-GUI will overwrite your current version
• If you already had installed the source distribution of ADF: remove the adfinput, adfview and adfmovie directories
• gunzip and untar (unzip on Windows) the file in your $ADFBIN directory
• Windows users should make sure that they overwrite all relevant files while unpacking the archive.

Usage on Windows:

• You can continue using the old shortcuts that will now start new versions of the GUI modules.
• Check out the detailed instructions on using the ADF-GUI beta.

Usage on other platforms:

• Start ADFinput by typing "$ADFBIN/adfinput" at your command line
• Start ADFview by typing '$ADFBIN/adfview mol.t21 (or mol.t41)' at your command line, next use the Add menu to visualize something
• Start ADFmovie by typing '$ADFBIN/adfmovie mol.t21' at your command line (or $ADFBIN/adfmovie mol.logfile)

Username and password

In order to download the files of the ADF package, a username and password are required.
You get these when you buy ADF or get a trial license.
The new GUI modules work immediately if the GUI is enabled in your license file. No new license file will be needed in that case.
