Platform Specific Information

The following table displays the platforms, compilers and PVM or MPI versions that we have used to prepare the executables and object libraries. Other versions (especially older ones) are not guaranteed to work with this release of the ADF package. Please contact us if you have problems running ADF on your platform.

If you have the source files and intend to compile the code yourself, the installation procedure will also use a few object files that are only distributed in binary format. Therefore, your compiler must be binary-compatible with the one we used to prepare them.

Machine-specific comments

• Windows:
  the Windows version has been prepared and tested under Windows Vista and tested under Windows XP. This version has not been tested on Windows 2000 but it should also work there. ADF2009 does not work on Windows NT or Windows 95/98. Please read Installation instructions for the list of known issues and important information about installing and configuring ADF on Windows.
• PC Linux:
  the PC Linux version should work on Intel Core platform, Pentium IV, Intel Xeon, AMD Athlon and Opteron, and compatible hardware. It will not work on older hardware such as Pentium II/III and Pentium Pro machines. The Redhat 9.x version is also expected to work also on RedHat Enterprise and Advanced Server. These versions should work on other Linux distributions as well, if they have the same or more recent kernel and glibc. The minimum supported GLIBC version is 2.3. The users with an earlier GLIBC version should update system to a more recent one. If this appears impossible, please contact SCM support and we may be able to build ADF on your machine provided that your local policy allows remote access of SCM employees to your machines.
• IBM AIX:
  This version of ADF requires IBM XL Fortran Runtime Environment (xlfrte) 10.1.0.4 to be installed on the system. To check the xlfrte version number use the "lslpp -L xlfrte" command.
