Sad news about Prof. dr. J.G. Snijders
Prof. dr. Jaap Gerard Snijders passed away on August 13, 2003 at the age of 52 after a brief period of illness.Prof. Snijders was the head of the Theoretical Chemistry group at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen since 1997. Before that he was a member of the Theoretical Chemistry group at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam for more than twenty years.
Both in Amsterdam and in Groningen he contributed, both directly and through many Ph.D. students and postdocs under his supervision, to many parts of ADF and BAND. Some of his main contributions were in the area of molecular properties (recently especially time-dependent DFT applied to molecules and periodic structures) and in the area of relativistic effects.
