UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY
Department of Chemistry
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two Post-doctoral positions are available in computational transition metal
chemistry
The successful candidates will be involved in
- The development of methods based on ab initio molecular dynamics
combined
with molecular mechanics for the simulation of elementary reaction
steps and solvation effects
- The development of methods based on DFT and ADF to study magnetic
properties or/and
develop new functionals that can treat multiplets accurately
- Application of the above methods as well as standard DFT codes (ADF)
to the study of olefin polymerization catalyzed by single site
transition metal catalysts
Requirements: PhD in Theoretical Chemistry or Computational Physics.
Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation
of electronic structure codes as well as experience with
chemical modeling. However, applicants with a strong record
in the use of quantum mechanical methods to the study of
catalysi will also be considered, although they have little
experience with program development.
Particulars: The position is for one year with the possible extension for
another.
The salary is $ 29,000 (CDN) + benefits (health care etc.).
The position will be available from August 1, 1999.
