Dear ADF users and others,
This mail contains some news on SCM and the Amsterdam Density Functional
software package (ADF) which we hope may be of interest to you:
1. Dr. Erik van Lenthe joins SCM team
2. SCM at ACS expo in Orlando, April 2002
3. SCM invites method developers to cooperate in ADF projects
4. Color brochure for ADF soon available
1. Dr. Erik van Lenthe has signed up with SCM.
==============================================
SCM is pleased to announce that Dr. Erik van Lenthe will join the
SCM team this April. Dr. van Lenthe has many years of experience
in ADF, both as a developer and as a user. He has implemented
the ZORA relativistic method in ADF. Some of his other expertise
areas include: molecular property calculations, and basis set
development. Dr. van Lenthe will be involved in a variety of
projects mostly related to further development of ADF.
We trust that this expansion of our team will enable us to improve
ADF faster in the future.
2. SCM is present at the ACS expo in Orlando (April 2002)
=========================================================
Stan van Gisbergen will give a talk on the new functionality in
ADF2002 on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 April, 2002 during the upcoming
Orlando, Florida ACS meeting.
This will take place in a separate meeting organized by SGI.
Ask us for details if you wish to attend (info_at_scm.com).
For a demo of the upcoming ADF-GUI you are welcome at booth nr. 936
of the expo (Division of Small Chemical Businesses).
There you will also have the chance to give your personal suggestions
for future improvements to ADF or the ADF-GUI, or to pick up a
copy of the ADF brochure. Do tell your colleagues who may be interested
in ADF to visit booth nr. 936 (ADF and SCM are not officially listed;
this is a special arrangement).
3. SCM invites method developers to cooperate in ADF projects
=============================================================
SCM is interested in setting up cooperations with method developers
who are interested in using ADF for this purpose. If SCM considers
the added functionality to be of general interest, several
privileges can be made available. Detailed documentation will be
provided and direct support by the SCM team will facilitate
finding your way through ADF. Several of these cooperations are
already in progress to satisfaction of the parties involved.
SCM is also interested in getting in contact with programmers who
may be interested in SCM as a (temporary) employer, now or in the
future. Such candidates should ideally have several years of
programming experience in a large code as well as expertise in
quantum chemistry.
4. Color brochure for ADF soon available
========================================
A color brochure which summarizes the main features of ADF2002
(ADF, BAND, ADF-GUI) is currently being prepared for the Orlando
ACS meeting. If you know colleagues who might be interested in
ADF, you may forward them to us, so that we can send them this
brochure and provide them with other relevant information.
The brochure will give a quick overview of the main
points which define ADF. It should give scientists unfamiliar
with ADF a quick indication if it suits their needs. If you wish to
obtain one or more copies of this brochure, please let us know.
If you do not wish to receive further E-mail from SCM, please reply
to this message with "remove" in the subject or body of the mail.
Best regards,
Stan van Gisbergen
