Dear all,
I have been told that some people have received a mail from me
(swart_at_chem.vu.nl) with
as subject something like "Re: Your document".
I am not the one who send the mail.
That mail contains a virus, and was send by a virus (probably from a
machine in Japan).
As a summary, some general rules to avoid virus infection:
- do not open Attachments automatically
- do not trust the "From:" e-mail address blindly to judge whether the
mail is safe
[the previous (infected) mail is an example of how it can go wrong]
- delete the message when the only text is something like "See the
attached file for details."
[Sufficient details should already be present in the text when the
file is worth opening]
Although I'm not responsible for it, I'm sorry if the fake-mail has
caused anyone trouble.
