Dear ADF List,

I am having some problems with memory limits in ADF. Specifically my jobs ussually crash with the message:

<Mar19-2004> <11:34:53> ppchec missing kid2
<Mar19-2004> <11:34:55> WARNING: not all scratch files were closed
<Mar19-2004> <11:34:55> END

I am runnning my calculations on a Linux cluster using a PVM memory environment. Each node has approximately 16 Gb of scratch space. If I try using the MAXMEMORY Keyword with anything about 2000 Mb, I get the error message:

<Mar17-2004> <03:21:03> arcons: consistency check failed
<Mar17-2004> <03:21:03> STOP RECEIVED from 524290 , tag= 9221
<Mar17-2004> <03:21:03> END

My Computer administrators have advised me this is probably do to 32 bit memory addresses being limited to 2Gb.

Would someone please let me know the following:

1. What does max memoryusage mean, is it per CPU, or total?
2. Is there a way one increase this beyond 2000 Mb?

The only solution I have at present is to run the calculation with a lower integration accuracy and smaller basis sets, which I am reluctant to do.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me,
Ben Herbert
