Dear ADF users and others interested,
SCM is pleased to announce a new beta-release of the GUI modules
ADFview and ADFmovie
for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X:
http://www.scm.com/News/ADFViewBeta.html
These new modules offer the following important improvements over the
versions in the ADF2004.01 release:
- faster (e.g. interactive rotation) because OpenGL / hardware
acceleration of graphics card is exploited
- more functionality: cut planes, viewing molecular frame and
isosurfaces simultaneously, transparent surfaces
- adapt grid for even faster viewing or better (smoother) picture
quality
- export option to popular graphical file formats, including JPG, PNG,
etc. Background color can be adapted.
ADF users who are already using the ADF-GUI can very easily install
these new modules
next to the current GUI modules in $ADFBIN and do not need to do
anything for continued usage
of the new modules. All other ADF users can also try out both these new
modules and the old GUI
modules for free, using the demo license file on the download page.
We believe the new GUI modules should be almost self-explanatory, but
usage instruction
are available on our website:
http://www.scm.com/Downloads/download2004.01/adfvmremarks.html
We appreciate feature requests, suggestions and problem reports for
these beta versions.
Your comments will be taken into account to set priorities for next
releases.
We also plan to add support for other platforms at a later stage.
The modules can be downloaded from this web page (with your usual
username and password):

For a preview of pictures and movies, please check:

and especially: http://www.scm.com/Demos/adfv.html
We very much look forward to your comments and trust these new modules
will make ADF increasingly
useful for your research.
Best regards,
Stan van Gisbergen, on behalf of the SCM team
