Menu command search¶

AMSinput, AMSview, AMSjobs, AMSmovie, AMSlevels, AMStail, AMSoutput, AMSspectra, AMSbandstructure (AMSbands), AMSdos, KFbrowser, ParAMS, and AMSkinetics provide menu command search. The search updates automatically as you type, using the current menu configuration.

AMSinput¶

Click the search icon in the top-right corner, or press Cmd+F on macOS or Ctrl+F on Windows and Linux. Cmd+Shift+F on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux also opens the same search box.

Menu commands are listed first, alongside panels, documentation, molecules, and crystals. See Searching for the full AMSinput search details.

AMSview¶

Click the search icon in the top-right corner, or press Cmd+Shift+F on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux. Cmd+F on macOS or Ctrl+F on Windows and Linux also opens menu search.

AMSjobs¶

Click the menu-search icon at the right of the bottom bar, or press Cmd+Shift+F on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux. The popup appears above the icon. Cmd+F on macOS or Ctrl+F on Windows and Linux focuses the separate job filter at the bottom.

Opening or closing menu search preserves the job filter and selected jobs. Menu commands act on the selected jobs, just as when chosen from a menu.

AMSmovie¶

Click the search icon at the right of the playback bar, after the frame slider. The popup appears above the icon. Press Cmd+F or Cmd+Shift+F on macOS, or Ctrl+F or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux, to open the same menu search.

AMSlevels¶

Click the search icon in the top-right corner of the plot. The popup appears below the icon. Press Cmd+F or Cmd+Shift+F on macOS, or Ctrl+F or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux, to open the same menu search.

AMStail (Logfile)¶

Click the search icon in the bottom-right scrollbar corner. The popup appears above the icon. Press Cmd+F or Cmd+Shift+F on macOS, or Ctrl+F or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux, to open the same menu search.

AMSoutput¶

Click the menu-search icon at the right of the bottom bar, or press Cmd+Shift+F on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux. The popup appears above the icon. Cmd+F on macOS or Ctrl+F on Windows and Linux focuses the separate text search field at the bottom.

Opening or closing menu search preserves the text search and selected output text.

AMSspectra¶

Click the search icon at the right of the plot-control bar. The popup appears above the icon. Press Cmd+F or Cmd+Shift+F on macOS, or Ctrl+F or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux, to open the same menu search.

AMSbandstructure (AMSbands)¶

Click the search icon beside the Brillouin Zone and Atoms controls at the bottom of the structure pane. The popup appears above the icon. Press Cmd+F or Cmd+Shift+F on macOS, or Ctrl+F or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux, to open the same menu search.

AMSdos¶

Click the search icon at the right of the molecule’s status area. The popup appears above the icon. Press Cmd+F or Cmd+Shift+F on macOS, or Ctrl+F or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux, to open the same menu search.

KFbrowser¶

Click the menu-search icon at the right of the bottom filter bar, or press Cmd+Shift+F on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux. The popup appears above the icon. Cmd+F on macOS or Ctrl+F on Windows and Linux focuses the separate data filter at the bottom.

Opening or closing menu search preserves the data filter and selected data.

ParAMS¶

Click the menu-search icon at the right of the lower tab bar (Parameters, Info, Graphs, Results), or press Cmd+Shift+F on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux. The popup appears above the icon. In the jobs/training-set and parameters tables, Cmd+F or Ctrl+F still focuses the corresponding table filter.

Opening or closing menu search preserves the table filters and selected entries.

AMSkinetics¶

Click the search icon in the notebook’s top-right corner, or press Cmd+F or Cmd+Shift+F on macOS (Ctrl+F or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux). Menu commands are listed first, alongside input panels and documentation. The popup appears below the icon. Search is available in both MKMCXX and Zacros mode.

Using the search results¶

The search includes the names of menu commands and their parent menus. Each result shows the full menu path, for example Select → Select All. Click a result, or highlight it with Up or Down and press Return, to execute the command just as if you had selected it from the menu.

Each search uses the current menu configuration, including dynamically generated entries. Disabled menu items are not included.

Matching is case-insensitive. All search words must occur in the full menu path, but they may appear in different parts of that path. Use double quotes (”) to search for an exact phrase, and the * and ? wildcards to match any text or a single character.

Initially, the first five matches are shown. Click the triangle next to the Menu Commands header to show all matches or return to the first five. With the search box focused, press Shift+Return to toggle this while a result is highlighted. The results scroll automatically as you navigate with the arrow keys.

Press Escape to close the search box.
