Annual licenses
Most researchers opt for an annual license, and our standard prices are for a single year usage period. During this term, you are entitled to use all new (major and minor) releases of the licensed software and technical support. This license type gives maximum flexibility and the lowest up-front investment. A renewal of your license is needed after one year if you wish to continue using the software.
Multi-year licenses
If you have a sizable software budget now but are uncertain about your software needs in the coming years, our multi-year licenses may be of interest. Discounts are applied as follows: 5% for a 2-year license (factor 1.9), 10% for a 3-year license (factor 2.7), 12.5% for a 4-year license (factor 3.5), and 15% for a 5-year license (factor 4.25). This means, for example, that a 5-year license effectively gives you more than half a year free.
During the entire license period, you are entitled to use all new releases of the licensed software without any additional payments. Annual price increases, including annual inflation corrections, will not affect your multi-year license. Each year, you will receive a new license file for the duration of your contract, and a new contract will be required only at the end of the period to continue using the software.

Licenses shorter than one year
Contact us if you wish to receive a quote for a period shorter than one year. We do not encourage this, partly because of the large overhead. This is also reflected in the license fees, such as a 3-month license at 50% the annual fee and 6-month license at 75% of the annual fee and 7-month or longer license at 100% of the annual fee.
Perpetual licenses
A perpetual license is available at 5 times the annual license fee. This license type includes 12 months of upgrades for the purchased major release and 12 months of free support. After the first 12 months, further support and licenses for newer versions are available at a yearly maintenance fee. During the first two maintenance periods the maintenance fee is equal to the one-year price valid at the time of the purchase of the perpetual license. After that, it is equal to the one-year price valid at that moment.
Contact SCM or your local reseller for further details and limitations. SCM will not provide support for old versions, except, in some cases, the version directly before the most recent one. In order to allow you to switch to newer machines or if your old machine breaks down, SCM will provide a new license file each year.
