The route to SCM can easily be planned on Google Maps, and detailed directions are also available for download.
The VU website also provides local directions.
We are located on the 4th floor of the R corridor of the Faculty of Sciences building (‘W & N gebouw’) on the map of VU, building number 4 on the 3D campus map.
Since the doors on the rear (southern) side of our building now require a pass to enter, visitors should enter from the front (northern) entrance, labeled ‘De Boelelaan 1081’.

Take the stairs or elevator to the fourth floor, the corridors are alphabetically ordered.

By public Transport

Public transport in Amsterdam runs regularly and reliably, and is an efficient way for visitors to reach SCM.
Those arriving at Amsterdam Schiphol airport, or those traveling by train from elsewhere should take a train to Amsterdam Zuid / WTC station.
From there it is a 10 minute walk to the building were we are located. You can also board either sneltram number 51 or tram number 5 heading south toward Amstelveen.
Sneltram 51 stops directly in Station Zuid; tram 5 stops about 100m to the north (walk through the World Trade Center to get there).
Take either tram from station Zuid to the “De Boelelaan / VU” stop, only a minute or two from there.

For this you need a public transport chipcard.
This OV-chipkaart is a new means of payment for the public transport system.
The smart card is the size of a bank card and contains an invisible chip.
There is no specific OV-chipkaart for tourists/visitors.
We advise you to use the disposable OV-chipkaart for one trip or for a predetermined short-term use (for example, a one-day ticket or a 3-day ticket for all public transport within the city of Amsterdam).
The disposable card can be purchased at the station vending machines.

At the start of your journey, you check in by holding your OV-chipkaart up to the logo on the check in screen.
The sound and light signal indicates your card has been read.
At the end of your journey, you check out by holding your card up to the screen again.

By car

If you come by car, there is paid parking all around the VU.
The Arent Janszoon (A.J.) Ernststraat is closest to SCM and least expensive.
Park on the VU side, near the first gate, 100 meters from the tramlines.
You need to give us a phone call (+31 20 598 7626 or +31 20 598 7625)
when you arrive, so we can open the back entrance for you.

If you get lost

Outside the VU, ask people how to get to (i) Amsterdam Zuid/WTC
train station (ii) tram stop “VU / De Boelelaan”.
Inside the VU, ask for the science building, and then for the R4-corridor
