Academic license fees

Per 2026, SCM software licenses are structured around AMS Foundation, which includes:

• the graphical user interface (AMSGUI)
• a Python API (PLAMS), interfaces to VASP & Zacros, and several Advanced Workflows & Tools:
  ParAMS, ChemTraYzer2, Reaction Discovery, Conformers, microkinetics, and OLED Workflows
• the AMS Driver (PES Exploration, Properties, Molecular Dynamics, and Monte Carlo) & Hybrid engine
• standard force fields (UFF, Amber)

Licenses start at 16 host-locked CPU cores, with all single-module licenses priced the same.
The standard academic group yearly license fee for ADF (or any other single module) on 16 cores is 2,000 €.

AMS Foundation: include core functionality

All SCM licenses start with AMS Foundation, including graphical and python interfaces, external interfaces (to VASP and Zacros) and various advanced simulation and productivity tools.
You can install and use AMS Foundation on any licensed machine.

(2) Choose total number of CPU cores

We count the total number of physical cores on all machines you want to run our software on. You can run on different operating systems. For large Linux clusters a floating license may be an option (cores count double).

Yearly academic group license fees in Euros (ex VAT)

When you have determined the module points and number of CPU cores, you can find the yearly academic group license fee in Euros in this table (US$ prices further below).
Multi-year licenses offer more value with discounts up to 15% for a 5-year license.
Academic site licenses are available at 1.7 times the academic group license fee. The same logic, but different license fees, apply to HPC centers, government labs, and industry. Please contact us or request a price quote to get the best offer.

Yearly academic group license fees in USD (ex VAT)

When you have determined the module points and number of CPU cores, you can find the yearly academic group license fee in USD in the table below. An exchange rate adjustment can be applied to the list USD prices below for academic group licenses (2025: -15%).
Multi-year licenses offer more value with discounts up to 15% for a 5-year license.
Academic site licenses are available at 1.7 times the academic group license fee. The same logic, but different license fees, apply to HPC centers, government labs, and industry. Please contact us or request a price quote to get the best offer.

Teaching-only licenses

Special fees are available for classroom licenses. The graphical user interface, easy license activation, and the available tutorials and teaching exercises will make it easy for you to teach students how to use computational chemistry to get insight into structure, reactivity, and properties of molecules & materials.

For some countries, we can offer academic licenses at a 30% lower fee.
